A very convenient way to travel around Switzerland with the Swiss Half Fare card & allows visitors to travel by train, bus & boat. The passenger must buy a locally available reduced ticket to travel.
The Swiss Half Fare Card is the perfect choice for international visitors making short trips or excursions within Switzerland. It offers 50% discounts on trains, buses, boats, and most mountain railways for 1 month from your selected start date. However, you must still purchase reduced-price tickets for each journey, available on the SBB app, website, ticket machines, or counters—just select “Half Fare Card” when buying.
The card is only for non-residents of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Children under 6 travel free, while those under 16 travel free with a Swiss Family Card when accompanied by a parent holding a valid Half Fare Card. No senior discounts apply.
The card is pre-validated at purchase and can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Be sure to enter your passport number and country of residence correctly, as this will appear on the pass. Once booked, you’ll receive your ticket by email within 48 hours—check your Spam folder if needed.
For travelers staying in one location, the Swiss Transfer Ticket offers a half-price journey from any Swiss airport or border station to your holiday destination (reduced ticket required).
